Aircraft Birdstrike Avoidance Radar
DeTect’s MERLIN Aircraft Birdstrike Avoidance Radar system is the first production model bird strike radar system and is the most advanced and widely-used technology available for bird-aircraft strike hazard (BASH) management and for real-time detection, tracking and alerting of hazardous bird activity at commercial airports, military airfields, and military training and bombing ranges.
MERLIN TRUE3D BDR-DDR
The MERLIN avian radar is proven, operational technology with over 250 MERLIN systems delivered to sites worldwide in aviation safety and environmental applications. MERLIN has a documented record in reducing bird strikes, increasing safety and reducing aircraft damage and delay costs at both military and commercial airfields. MERLIN is also the only bird radar system to have been evaluated and certified for real-time, tactical flight safety use by the US government (NASA and the USAF) and is the only bird radar approved for and in use at a commercial airport control tower under national flight safety standards.
Wind Energy Bird and Bat Radars
With the MERLIN SCADA bird and bat mortality risk mitigation feature, the MERLIN system can be used at operating wind farms to function as an “early warning” system providing advance detection of bird & bat activity that presents mortality risk, automatically engaging response mitigation actions up to and including idling of turbines until the risk passes. DeTect provides full operational and technical support to wind farm owners, developers, operators and consultants that includes system deployment, operation, user training, and data processing, analysis, reporting and QA/QC.
Nightingale I is a fully integrated Ka-band phased array communication system providing a complete hardware and software solution for high-speed RF links with a dynamically steerable beam. The system includes an active phased array antenna as well as a software-defined radio, single-board computer, power converter, and RF front-end—all integrated into a seamless high-speed downlink solution.
The complete-system approach and small form-factor allow for plug-and-play integration with LEO spacecraft and airborne platforms, while the tile architecture allows for system scaling and adaptation to mission requirements. Per-element array control enables on-orbit optimization of power and beam shape.
The CommPack Cross-link Communications Payload uses building blocks from Cesium’s modular device ecosystem to enable mobile ad-hoc networking in space. This swarm technology is paving the way for future small satellite missions to the Moon, Mars, and beyond. The system consists of the SDR-1001 and two active S-band antenna arrays (TRM-4S01). The OTS Cesium General Purpose Modem loaded into the SDR-1001’s FPGA provides robust BPSK/QPSK inter-satellite links between spacecraft in a swarm.
The CommPack was designed as an intersatellite link for NASA Ames, but may be reconfigured as required to support your concept of operations.
Software Defined Radio
A high-performance, compact software-defined radio designed to operate in LEO environments. The CesiumAstro SDR-1001 sets a new standard in SWaP-C. The SDR-1001 includes four receive channels, four transmit channels, and a state-of-the-art FPGA in a credit-card-sized footprint. The module is suitable for demanding digital signal processing and communications applications. Use as a stand-alone software-defined radio or combine with other CesiumAstro modules for a complete bits-to-photons solution.
Single Board Computer
The credit-card-sized module features a quad-core processor, error-correcting code memory, mass storage, selective redundancy, and multiple data interfaces in a compact form-factor.
The CesiumAstro SBC-1461 includes a software development kit for a Linux-based OS, providing a fast, out-of-the-box solution. The SBC-1461 single-board computer, with its integrated communications and security features, is designed to operate in LEO environments.
Use as a stand-alone computer or combine with other CesiumAstro modules for a powerful, secure, and tightly integrated communications platform.
Power Conditioning Unit
A high-efficiency, compact DC-to-DC converter designed to operate in LEO environments that provides a regulated, isolated, 12V rail suitable for powering the full suite of CesiumAstro communications products.
The CesiumAstro PCU-1C28 includes a fixed-frequency converter with integrated filters and protections as well as a digital interface for telemetry in a credit-card-sized footprint. Each module is parallelable with other CesiumAstro PCUs for higher output power or hot redundancy.
Use as a stand-alone power converter or combine with other CesiumAstro modules for a system that works out-of-the-box.
A wideband up/down converter designed to operate in LEO environments with an on-board frequency synthesizer and low power consumption all in a credit-card-sized footprint. The module supports time-division up/down-conversion with 1GHz of instantaneous bandwidth and offers the ability to combine IF channels for further flexibility.
The CesiumAstro UDC-1AT1 includes a high-precision clock for LO generation; the module can provide this clock as a reference for other modules, or lock to an external system reference.
Use as a stand-alone up/down converter or combine with other CesiumAstro modules for a complete Ka-band communications solution.
